Question
I recently bought a young male gp, and the place where I bought him said he was a brindle torti.  He has reddish brown patches along with black patches, but these are not clearly defined.  None of his hairs are more than one color.  Is brindle torti an actual color or is he just in between the two?  Thank you!

Answer
Hi Randi.  It sounds like a bad tortoise shell.  At shows we call it brindling in the patches, but I think you hit the nail on the head when you said "in between the two."  Tortoise Shell is defined at red and black patches, atleast the size of a 50 cent piece, atleast one of each color.  Brindle is defined as intermingling of red and black hairs over atleast 75% of the body.  So, take a look at your piggie, or send me a pic, and decide.  Its been a while since I took my registrars test, but those definitions are fairly close to the book.
Hope this helps!
