my pig ate something bad!

My pig was out of his cage for some floor time. he managed to pull a rather large string of fuzz off of a rug and before i was able to get it out of his mouth he ate it! i'm so worried and not sure what to do. i don't want him to die, i know they have sensitive tummys. should i take him to the vet asap?

Answer
No, no, Whitney...you don't need to run to a vet.  He will pass it in the next day or so. You may or may not recognize it in his poo but there's no reason he shouldn't pass it right through his gut. He won't die from the fuzz, I promise.

Fortunately he didn't head right for the cord to the TV or a lamp. They can do that, and one bite out of an electric cord and poof! Maybe you can find some way to fence him off when he has floor time so he can't get into mischief again.

Because they're so close to the floor they see all kinds of mischievous things to take a bite out of. If you lie down with your head right on the floor you can get a realistic view of what he sees when he's there.  It might help to spot the trouble areas.
