Guinea pig run.

Question
Hi Abi,
It would be great if you could give me some advice please. I am looking into getting a guinea pig, but wanted some advice first. I have had guinea pigs in the past but that was years ago and i still lived with my parents so the pigs had a run on the grass. However i now live with my partner and we only have a yard, no grass at all. Is it ok to keep pigs on concrete (when they are in their run) if i give them enough greens e.t.c.? Sorry not explained that very well i hope you know what i mean.
Also we have a dog, would the sight/smell of a dog scare the guinea pig?
Also i would only like to have 1, is it ok to keep then on their own?
I look forward to hearing from you. Thank you very much for any advice you can give me, it is much appriciated.
Caroline.

Answer
outside piggies is a bad idea. 1 they are very suspetable to the cold, 2 they are very suseptable to the heat and concrete is a good conductor of heat and cold. bad idea. i suggest letting them run about in a play pen, you can buy ones for little kids cheap.

the dog, they will try to stay away from the dog because in their habbitat they are at the bottom of the food chain and dog will eat them.

i have on female abasynian and she seems happy being the only piggy, but i also spend a good amount of time with her. if you can't spend a lot of time with your pig, then i suggest getting 2. they'll keep eachother company.
