Question
I was reading that a guinea pig should be weaned after at least 18 days.  However, I rescued a one-week-old guinea pig yesterday.  Is there anything I need to know about care, or whatever?

Answer
Hello Jen,
do you want general care for his whole care or just care for now until he's old enough for general care? I'm assuming you just want to know what you need to do to take care of the baby until he's old enough to eat solid foods. Well in that case basically all the baby guinea pig needs now is milk and warmth. The type of milk that would be best Kitten replacement milk also known as KMR. You can find it at any petstore. You will also need a bottle which you can also find at a pet store. Also, I'd place some fresh mixed veggies like carrots and other veggies. Also, I'd see if you can get any type of vitamin C tablets and break a little piece off into the milk to dissolve. That way they will be getting vitamin C, or you can give them fruit with vitamin C. I'd also buy some alfalfa hay and some alfalfa based food to place in the cage. I'd try feeding the baby guinea pig every hour on the hour.

Good luck and keep me posted.
