hair falling out

Our Abyssinian guinea pig has a bald patch growing on his back. The hair has been falling out in small clumps with dead skin on the end and we would really like to know what it is called and what to do about it.

this sounds like a skin infection.
Is he scratching the area? Does it smell?
We need to establish if its parasitic or fungal
You can try bathing him in a shampoo called SELSUN first,this is available at chemists.While you are there buy a small tub of SUDOCREAM.These are both sf to use on guinea pigs.
Try one bath in warm water not too deep. This should only need to be done once
Once the piggy is dry from the bath,massage a small amount of the cream over the area.Reapply the cream once a day
