Blood in the cage

Question
Hi,
We've got two young female guinea pigs and tonight we noticed in their hutch blood all over the walls and in their shoe box where they sleep. It looked like it was splattered. There was no blood or any cuts that we could see on either of the guinea pigs and other animals can't really get into their hutch because the squares in the wire are about 1cm square. A friend who's had guinea pigs thought that one of them was pregnant (and they were in the same cage as boys at the pet shop), but we've had them for a few months now and no babies have appeared. I was wondering if maybe, before they give birth, do they squirt out blood or something? I'm worried about them!!
Thanks,
Sarah

Answer
Sarah,

I am not sure why there would be blood splatters in their cage. It could mean Kidney stones, UTI (urinary tract infection) or even one maybe pregnant but that is a might be. Your best bet will be to get them both checked out by a vet to make sure that they are fine as blood is a very serious sign and there is not much I can tell you for sure other then what I named and that you truly do need to get them to a vet for a complete check to make sure this isn't something more serious.

I am sorry I could be of more help,
I hope that this is of some type of help and that they are both fine,
               Take care now,
