HELP please!!!

HELLO!! nice to talk to you i am 12 years old i have a question or two, um
and i recentally bot$ a male guinea pig at petco the ones at petco seemed to be bigger then regular pet store its because there older but i bot$ mine he was 4 monthes old he only comes to me when i have veges or fruit but im really wanting to tame him he is about 4 and a half monthes old now is it to late to tame him ?? and, i have a good secure room is it ok to leave cage door open and let him rome free,    (PS. no kids running around to hurt him in the room) THANK YOU SO SO MUCH HOPE U GeT BACK TO ME

Hello Zack,
personally I wouldn't let your gerbil roam free as he could probably get into something he shouldn't. It sounds like you are taming him just fine by using food and yummy treats in your hand. That's the best way to try and tame the and to get them used to you. You can let him out of the cage and play with him but I would watch him when you let him roam the room. You'd be surprised how many small places they can find.
