QuestionI'm pretty sure my guinea pig is pregnant, we haven't had her long but she is about 8 weeks old.(I don't think she has been pregnant for long though.) her teets are getting massive and she has a big bulge She is eating and eating (never used to.) and will eat anything. she is usually a lively thing but now she mostly just wants to sit, and is very quite.
When I put My hands under her stomach she tries to get away. ( she never used to mind it.)
we have another female and she is nothing like it.
if she is pregnant and when she has her babies, should I separate the father from the mother and babies, or all of the other guinea pigs boy or girl? or is it fine.
I have 2 boys and 2 girls.
and I would like to know some other tips to if you have any.
AnswerHello Haley,
I'd seperate 2 boys you have from the two girls just because breeding guinea pigs isn't really that easy as there are always a high chance of losing pups or the sow due to difficulties during pregnancy. Since she is young she may not have problems with this pregnancy and she will hopefully give birth with no problems. When the mom gives birth don't seperate the pups from the mom until they are three weeks of age. I'd put the boys with the boys and the girls with the girls.
