Antibiotic??

Hi there,
I had a question about my guinea pig.  I have had guinea pigs for years, but I have a question about the pig I own now.  Her name is Cookie, and I noticed this morning one of her eyes looked irritated.  After putting it under the light to get a better look, I saw a piece of hay sticking out.  Very gently with tweezers I pulled it out.  It was not too big, but it definitely irritated her eye.  As I gently pulled back her lid a bit, it is still red where it is supposed to be white.  Is there an antibiotic cream or something I can put on it or will it heal on its own just because it was irritated?

Please let me know ASAP!

If you're able to get some Teramycin eye ointment you can use that. Visine is also okay to use, but guinea pigs have a tendency to heal those eye injuries very quickly all by themselves. Just keep any goo that develops washed off, other than that you don't really need to do anything.
