Baby Piggie New to us.

Question
Hi, its been a very long time since I last had a Piggie and tomorrow we are picking up a male baby.  I am worried I get it all wrong.  We have all the basics for looking after him, but the one thing I am concerned about, it how much to feed him each day.  What is the accepted amount, ie. 2 slices cucumber, quarter apple, etc., I don't want to overfeed.  Also I seem to remember reading somewhere that I should introduce grass slowly...which means a run in our grassy garden should be slowly done.  Is this right?  Thanks in advance for your help. Karin

Answer
Hi Karin

I am sure you will be fine. For a baby I would recommend giving him continual access to dry food and feed the equivalent of one carrot twice per day, so this might be 2 slices of cucumber or half an apple etc. Just remember not to give too much cucumber or lettuce too often as it is watery as doesnt give much nutritional value. He will also need lots of hay to eat too.

For the first few days you should concentrate on letting your little guy settle in but after a few days you can happily let him have a run in the grass providing there is no pesticides on it.

I hope that helps, but if you have any further questions please do not hesitate to ask.
