Sad piggy

QUESTION: hello,

my guinea pig has just lost its best friend that he has been with for two years. my rabbit sadly died and left him lonely and scared. although we have bought an indoor cage now and give him regular attention, he never comes out of hiding and just looks so upset. i feel so awful when i look at him hiding and it is so upsetting. please could you tell me how to make him better and make him feel happy again.

ANSWER: Hello Andrew,
I would personally consider buying a young guinea pig of the same sex. This generally cheers them up and guinea pigs do better with the other one there. :) I am sorry your rabbit died, but I wouldn't get another rabbit for your guinea pig, I would get another guinea pig.

QUESTION: Thanks for answering so quickly.
but i dont know if i would be alowed another pet :( could i get him another rabbit if i'm alowed because my sister would like another rabbit aswell. i dont think i need to take him to the vets at the moment. well thanks for your time. =]

if you are unable to get a little friend for your piggie, the best thing to do is to spend as much time with him as possible.
As far as a rabbit getting along with a guinea pig, I am really surprised that your previous rabbit got along with your guinea pig because rabbits and guinea pigs shouldn't be in the same cage since they require different types of food and rabbits are known to injure guinea pigs.
