Question
How often and how should I wash my guinea pig?

Answer
Hello Lauren and thanks for the question,

Some people say there is "no need" to wash a GP, that they take care if there own cleaning. I disagree. Washing your GP will provide him with better resistance to infection and sickness (as well as hapiness).

If he is an INSIDE GP and his bedding/cage is cleaned well (once per week - 10 days or as needed), he can get a bath every 3-4 months. If he is an OUTSIDE/HUTCHED GP, he should get a bath once per month.

Use luke warm water and human baby shampoo (Johnson's smells nice). Some folks like a shampoo with conditioner an that is fine but is a pain to rinse out thouroughly. GPs have natural oils on their fur that, even if you scrub them as I have stated above, will come back and is best for them.

Thanks and have fun,
Ryan
