Question
my piggy started off three weeks ago with incontinence and was soaked all over her bum. i took her to vets and he prescribed antibiotics septrim shes dried up now but ive noticed blood in her vulva end. he thought it was a kidney stone or tumour and that the antibiotics would do something. i took her back today and thought euthanasia was the best but he wouldnt do it and said to see her in ten days time. im so worried about her. what should i do. shes bright and eating but the bloody discharge is a worry as not normal.

Answer
Hi Donna

It does worry me that the vet thought an antibiotic could be a succesful treatment for a kidney stone or tumour as this makes no sense at all.

I would seriously suggest getting a second opinion. Bladder stones are certainly a possibility but she probably would seem so bright.

I tend to think we are dealing with a urinary tract infection which means the antibiotics should help but if you dont see an improvement within a few days then ask for a different antibiotic, particularly Bactrim, which is usually used for UTI's.
