Guniea pigs fighting

Question
QUESTION: Hi. I have had three male pigs living together for about four months now. Before tonight I have never seen any signs of aggression except the occasional butting out of the way for food and water. Seemingly out of no where two of my piggies got into an all out fight. They broke up after a minute but the chuttering noises continued so I moved one to another cage. My question is, do you think I should keep them apart or would it be ok to put them back in together? I don't like leaving one of them in a cage by himself.

ANSWER: Hi Sarah

As males reach adulthood, fighting can occur. It is unlikely that you will be able to get 3 males living together.

As a last resort, you could thoroughly clean the cage, bath all 3 pigs so they smell the same. This has worked for me before. Let me know how you get on.

QUESTION: Hi me again. My problem got worse. The two that were still together in the cage got into a fight too. I figured that meant that it had to be Jacob(the one who was in both fights and the oldest) who was causing the problem so I moved him into his own cage and put Jasper back in with Embry. But now they are chuttering at each other too. Am I going to have to separate all of them or could it just be that Embry is still    rilled up from the fight?

Answer
Hi

Chattering teeth is a prelude to fighting but it usually doesnt get that far.

You need to give them the opportunity to establish their dominance hierachy but of course you should intervene if there is a fight.

Did you try the bathing yet?
