Question
QUESTION: I think my cavy in pregnant and I just want to be ready. do I need anything special for her like things for her to make a nest or food? much appreciated

ANSWER: Kassie,

Placing hay, corn fluff, or an old towel will be good as she can make a nest out of any of those. You'll want to provide her with these once you notice that she has a round belly as by then she'll be just about ready to give birth and will start making the nest. :)

For food she is going to need extra fresh food with lots of vitamin C during the pregnancy and while she is nursing. This will keep her healthy and less likely to have an hormonal imbalance.

Other then that all you need to due is wait, as a Guinea Pig is pregnant for 60 to 72 days and remember she'll most likely have the babies at night while your sleeping.

QUESTION: thank you, I did not know what I should expect for a nest she brought the towel to the corner and bunched it up and urinated on it. Is that a nest, if not is it a sign of something?

Answer
Kassie,

That would be a nest. Guinea Pig's nest are nothing special as to look at as in the wild they normally burrow under ground and nest are normally just a bunch of grass to make a soft warm spot to have pups (babies) and sleep.
