guinea had ear infection, still not acting right

Question
My guinea pig was recently treated for an ear infection with Baytril.  He finished up his medication two days ago and has been eating and drinking, but not like he used to.(He has a fresh supply of hay and alfalfa everyday along with dry food and leafy veggies.)  He acts as if he is feeling a little better, but is not producing any feces.  I have tried to see if he is impacted, but he doesn't appear to be.  I also have heard that some guinea's eat their poop---he never has, but maybe has started?  I'm quite concerned about my little guy.  He's gotten his balance back and is talking.  I was wondering if the Baytril could have caused him to become constipated?  Any help you can give would be most appreciated.  Thanks.

Answer
Hi Heather

I dont know what the effects of baytrill are but I guess its possible that he became constipated.

If that is the case you should give him vegetables with laxative qualities such as dandelions and groundsell. You can also mash oats and chinchilla pellets together which is a mixture high in fibre.

Failing that, 0.5ml of liquid pariafin should get things going.
