Taking care of a male guniea pig

Question
I just received a 5 year old male guniea pig, who didn't have the time to take care of him anymore. This is his first night in my house. I can sense that he doesn't like it here very much. Everytime I come near him, he starts clicking his teeth and the second I walk away he stops. I'm not exactly sure how to take care of him. I also have a two year male cat in the house. Was it a wise decision in taking the guniea pig?

Answer
Hello Clarissa

Maybe he just doesnt like people perhaps hes had some bad experances with people and just plain likes being left alone, if this is the case there isnt much you can do as he will not be very trusting and may never trust you. But you can try offering treat through the cage bars, if you can get him to stop clicknig then pick him up, put him on your lap and offer treats always talk in a calm low voice.
