malaseb, ringworm and cuts

my guinea pig has ringworm and the vet gave me malaseb shampoo...the only problem is, he has a few cuts on his neck and back from scratching..the vet said it "shouldn't" hurt his cuts but im unsure..should i believe him?

Hi Heidi

There are a number of vets who know little about exotic pets such as guinea pigs. I would be tempted to get a second opinion, perhaps from a breeder in your area. Personally I would not put anything on open wounds unless I knew it was safe.

Take a look at www.guinealynx.info, there might be some info on that particular medecine on there, as I have never heard of it.
