a weird sound

Question
Hi,

My guinea pigs are making this weird sound when they come close to eachother like they dont want to be by eachother or something.
the noise kinda sounds like helacopter but not as loud, lol, and then there body starts to quiver or shake a little when they make the noise. i hear them doing this alot. mostly during the day. And sometimes when they dont like how close the other piggy gets, they will start making high piched noises at eachother until someone decides to back off.

is this bad or something that i should need to worry about?

thanks so much!

Answer
Hi Becca,

This is called rumblestrutting, and is very normal. It's just the piggies sorting out who's the boss - sometimes they just rumble past the other pig and then carry on as normal, or sometimes they'll rumble at each other and circle each other a bit before backing off - it's just a natural dominance behaviour. The fact that one squeals and then someone backs off is nothing to worry about.

Best Wishes,

- Laura
