ferret and diahrea

Question
My ferett does not have full blown diahrea but, his poo is definately without form.  More of a blob and it sounds like it squirts out-then he drags his butt on the carpet like his anus is itchy.  He is eating a high grade canned catfood. But, this problem with the poo is quite recent.  ALso to add he doesn't seem to care if he is drinking any water.  He will drink but, I hold water in my hand and he licks out of my hand to get him to drink.

Answer
Hello, well I must say I really think you should switch him off the catfood and get a high quality ferret food like Zupreem Ferret Food. No corn, or by-products or harsh chemicals like BHA and it's an awesome food that I really like a lot. Also, take your ferret to a vet immediently. Since his stools are runny and not formed he probably has a virus or bacterial infection and the vet will give you some antibiotics to treat the infection. He can get really dehydrated with diarrhea and pretty fast for such a small animal. When any of our ferets at work show signs of diarrhea we quickly isolate them and take them to the vet for medication. Generally they give us something like albon for his diarrhea. Keep me posted on how things go.
