Fleece, lap time, weight

Question
I actually have 3 questions.  I recently started using fleece bedding for my guinea pig (he lives in a 6x2 C&C cage and the carefresh bedding was getting to be too much).  I usually put about 2-3 layers of towels underneath the fleece and I sweep up droppings at least twice a day.  I was just wondering, do you have any recommendations on how often to wash everything?  Also, last time I washed them with about a cup of bleach.  I have rinsed them twice but they still smell like bleach.  Are they safe to use?
Also, I have had my cavy for about 3 months.  I handle him every day, but he still seems to HATE when I pick him up - he even chatters his teeth at me when he can tell I want to pick him up.  Once I set him down (usually wrapped in a towel) he either tries to run away or starts wining as soon as I stop feeding him.  He does, however, seem to enjoy  my attention during floor time as well as when I pet him in his cage.  Do you think I should continue "lap time" with him, or do you think he is better off without it?
Lastly (and this is a quick one :)  )  What is a healthy weight for a guinea pig?  I think mine is about 5 months old.

Thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Answer
keep giving him a fuss during laptime, rub his neck area with your finger like you would with a dog when you scratch under the collar, or stroke under his chin, they like these things.

the fleece should be okay, and it depends on a lot of factors as to how often you change it, i would say the set up you have should be done twice a week really, if you can spot where he does his wee's and place a plastic container under the fleece then you would only need to change it once a week.

if you wash it with normal washing detergent or if you do it by hand just with normal soap in warm water then that will work just as fine, i would not make washing with bleach a habit unless it is to clean the basin of a plastic container.
