Question
My son Adam and I have 3 guinea pigs, 2 girls and I adopted the schools male for the summer.  Well one of my girls is pregnant and it's obvious she's ready anytime now.  But when?

I still take her outside for an hour during the day and the other piggy's watch her like a hawk.  The male is always right next to her, it's kinda cute..

It's been awhile since I raised guinea pigs and I need to know what to look for.  Will she stop eating?  Will she squeek more?  How will she behave?

She's by herself in her own cage (a baby pool).. and she looks miserable.

Do you know?
Thanks
Kris and Adam

Answer
Seeing as how you didn't see the actual breeding take place, it would be quiet hard for me to tell you when she will be due.  It is very hard to tell when they go into labor as well as they have pretty quiet deliveries.  Normally they will deliver at night while you are asleep.  The way I normally tell when they are close to delivering is when I can put my ear to her tummy and hear the babies teeth chattering.  Yes, you can hear them grind their teeth in her tummy.  :)  Neat huh?  You can also go to www.cavycages.com and find great resources on guinea pig info.  She really shouldn't stop eating but I have been told that most times when they go into labor they will go to one spot in the cage and empty themselves of lots of poo.  So, if ya find a pile in one spot, it may be time.  Hope this helps!  Please write back if you have other questions or if I've not clearly answered something.
