lumps/vet unsure

Question
Hi there,

I am the proud "mother" of two skinny pigs, Wilbur Peach and Rusty Spot.  They are both just over two years old.

Wilbur has developed about three soft lumps on his belly, one being quite large (about the size of a marble).  They don't bother him when touched and his eating/playing habits have not changed.  I have also noticed a smaller bump on his side, harder to the touch.

I have taken him to the vet and she believes they may be fatty tissue but because she doesn't specialize in exotics, she was unsure.  She is waiting to hear back from a more GP educated vet to decide what to do.

Does this sound familiar?

Any info/suggestions would be great--I'd hate to put him through any uneccesary stress, he is too happy a pig!

Thanks a bunch.
Tash

Answer
Hi Tasha

According to my research, most lumps on guinea pigs are benign, however, there is always the possibility of cancer although this is unlikely in pigs of only two years old.

I am pleased to hear that your vet has sought advice from one of her colleagues as this demonstrates that she wants to get you some good advice.
