old boy new girl

I have had a boy guinea pig for about a year now and i just adopted a girl.  I thought my boy was a girl until tonight.  I put them together and they seemed like they wanted to mate which i do not want.  So now i am wondering if they can share a cage and i can get something to seperate them.  The cage is big enough.  But also when i put them together they started making a really bad smell.  If they share a cage will they keep making the smell?  Thank you.

First of all you should make absolutely sure of the sex of your two pigs as if both are girls or boys you may not have to take your intended action.

I have no idea what the smell is, so you might like to check with one of the other experts or a vet, but in terms of separating them in the one cage, I see no reason why this shouldnt be possible.
