Guinea pig bloating

Question
Hi there,
I have 2 female guinea pigs who are about 4 and a half years
old. One of them has always been a lot fatter than the
other, however I have noticed recently that the larger one
seems to have gotten much fatter. She still eats and drinks
everything in sight but seems uncomfortable. When I had her
sitting on my knee I noticed that her stomach makes groaning
sounds now and then and the bloating seems to move a little
- it's like she has very bad wind or something. Can guinea
pigs get wind? I also noticed she doesnt poop while on my
knee as much as she used to, though I don't know if this is
because she's learning that she shouldnt do that or if she
has a problem pooping. I tried gently massaging the areas to
the sides of her bottom and this encourages her to poop so
she doesnt seem to have a blockage or anything. I just
wondered if anything could cause her to be so bloated or
have wind?
I don't really want to take her to a vet unless I really
have to, the last guinea pig I had I took to the vet because
she looked a bit under the weather and they said there was
nothing they could do and put her to sleep, she was only 3
:(

Thanks for your help!

Answer
Your guinea should be taken to the vet immediately.
It could be gastric/intestinal or something else like a tumor causing the digestive tract to misfunction and block up, either way the guinea pig needs vet treatment.
You cannot always tell yourself and this needs a certified veterinarian to diagnose and treat the problem.
Leaving the guinea pig will prolong suffering. With respect you have to brush your feelings aside and do what is best for your pet
If you are not satisfied wit the vet you used last time consult a different vet

Kind regards
