Question
Hello,
I recently (1 month) took in a year old Peruvian male.He is awesome and we love him. He was eating drinking & playing as normal Monday - Thursday day on Thursday eve he just sat in a corner of his pen i believe all night there were no spots of urine or fleeces in his cage anywhere but the spot he was laying in. He didn't even eat his nightly greens or pellets or hay. i called the vet today(fri.). the vet trimmed his teeth and gave him 2 injections of fluids? and sent us home with a dose of an anti-inflammatory. I asked if there was any sigh of a uri/ not soooo i am to call him on monday to see if anything has changed. IS This all i can do? does this seem like an educated start? im sooooo worried!
THANKS

Answer
Kelly,

This is diffidently an educated start. Give him plenty of foods with vitamin C in it. Make sure the room he is in is warm enough for him. Some Guinea Pigs benefit from extra warmth, so place a wrapped hot water bottle in with him, but in a place so he can move if he is uncomfortable. Make sure he is drinking plenty of water, he should be drinking about 4 oz a day. Other then that if anything changes call the vet, but you do have a good start and I don't think there is a anything for you to really worry about.

I hope this helps,
   Take care,
     Jules
