Question
I wanted to know if guinea pigs could eat blue sesqua (or sesque) grass? We are planting our garden and wanted to know if we should buy it. Also, I wanted to know if cleaning their cage (2 piggies) once a week was good? we just bought them a litter box and I want to train them to use it.

Answer
Hello Jake.

I have never heard of that grass before, but i'll tell you what. If you go to this website
www.guinealynx.com
There is an icon for "hay". Select that and look at the chart presented. It lists hay and grass that guinea pigs can eat. I don't see that personally, but I did see an icon for "all grass". I would naturally assume then that as long as it's fresh grass, with no additives (weed killer, fertilizer), then it would be okay to give them that grass.

Completely cleaning out the cage once a week is very good. That's the usual, although it is good to clean out badly soiled areas daily. Guinea pigs tend to poop in one general area, and will repeatedly do so.

Hope this helps.
Christy :)
