Ovarian Cyst

Question
My guinea pig, Tufty, just came back from an emergency room trip.  She was lethargic and not eat/drink.  It seems to me that she has a heat stress.  She is much better now after SQ fluid and liquid food.

Interestingly, the vet found 2 masses in her abdomen during the exam.  one of them is 1 inch and another is probably 2.5-3 inches.  The vet said that they likely to be ovarian cysts and they have to be removed.  Do I really have to put my baby through surgery? The cysts don't seem to bother her at all.

Answer
Julie,

Though the cysts don't seem to be bothering her now it is a good idea to put her through surgery to remove the cysts as just leaving it alone and allowing them to grow, they will eventually burst. So for the health of Tuffy she'll need the surgery.

I hope this helps and that everything goes alright with Tuffy,
 Take care,
   Jules
