blocked rectum

hello,
My guinea pig has a blocked rectum we have to squeeze his bottom morning and night any suggestions on how to fix my guinea pig he is 5 years old.

Sadly, male pigs do suffer from anal impaction as they get older and it is something that will affect him for the rest of his life.

Basically, the anal muscles become weaker meaning the pig can get rid of the softer pellets. One tip though is to ensure you leave the poop in the cage as these are the pellets that pigs re-digest to get all the nutrients.
