Elderly guinea pig

Question
My son has an elderly guinea pig. He's had it for about 6 years and has taken great care of it. Is there anything special he can do now to keep him healthy? He gets a daily 'salad' along with his pellets of dark greens and crunchy fruits and veggies already. He's starting to show his years in the form of crankiness when he's held by little hands. He's always been friendly with the children, playing with them and now that they can't hold him as much they'd like to do something else to interact with him.

Answer
Heather,

The only special thing needed to keep him healthy is lots of love, his 'salad' sounds perfect so there is nothing really needed other then just love.

A good way for the kids to interact with him, is when he is out on the floor for daily exercise they can sit down with him and pet him as he runs, or have a little ball that they can push around to show him how or throw little towels over him as he runs around, and such is a good way for them to interact with him without the need for him to be held more then he likes.

Take Care Now,
