Question
My other guinny is still with me and he seems as if he knows his pal is gone.Should I buy him another playmate,I'm not sure if they live peaceful alone or not.I know it will make me feel alittle better.Thank you for your response again.

I want to know,can guinea pigs catch colds .My Billybob just passed away and I feel so guilty.I wasn't putting vitamin drops in his bottle for atleast a month,but I fed him carrots,pellets,hay,watermelon.He was fine until this mourning.I didn't catch on to him being sick so severely.8 hours later,he laid in his cage.I then gave him water and children's med.drops,but he didn't make it.I sometimes leave a crack in the window for him to get freash air.Was it the cold air(because it is winter time here),or the vitamin drops or his age,he was 2 1/2 years old.I kept the cage I kept the clean,once a week.

If you are feeding a balanced diet you really shouldn't worry about vitamin drops although i like to use them. The window being cracked could have an affect on him because animals should be in a draft free area so they won't get sick. He was a pretty young guinea pig because guinea pigs live for 5-8 years. Did you feed your guinea pig some sort of vitamin C everyday? If they don't get vitamin C everyday they can get scurvy.

guinea pugs are social buying another guinea pig of the same sex will help him. when you buy a new guinea pig you need to seperate them for 2-3 weeks to make sure that the new guinea pig is healthy. you should keep both in a seperate room. Then once you have finished quarantining the new guinea pig place both guinea pigs in an open room and see how each one does and see how they get along. if they get along great place them in the bigger cage that you have for them, but make sure you have cleaned it out really well before placing them in the cage.
