Is my guinea pig pregnet?

Question
Hi, i just recently bought a guinea pig from a pet store and know there is a possiblility of her being pregnet. She is small not sure of the age. I know from reading from several sites that guniea pigs drink more water when pregnet. She is drinking alot more then when i got her but i think that may be because she had to get used to her new surrondings for a coouple days. I got her on the 30th of april. I was feeling her stomach and felt like two little rib cages on her low sides/stomach of her and these were in the direct middle of her body, but i dont know if that could be babies or her rib cage. Also she gets very angry when i touch or pet her there even trys to bite me. but i have not seen any noticeble growth in her lower region.

Hope i gave enough info and thanks for reading my question.

Answer
Hmmm. A guinea pig begins to show after 35 days. You'll notice she may be getting more plump, eating and drinking a lot more. If she is trying to bite you, don't press on her belly anymore as you could be causing her pain. It takes time for a guinea pig to give birth. It takes any where from 60-75 days after conception. You may not notice her growing immediately because you're around her all of the time. We humans, are indifferent to subtle changes in people. For example, you could gain 15 pounds, and you may not notice, or your family may not, but a cousin or aunt may say "Whoa! Did you gain weight?" It takes time. Make sure to be extra gentle with her. If she doesn't look like she swallowed a grapefruit, you most likely aren't feeling the ribs of any babies yet. You're most likely feeling hers, and from what it sounds like she doesn't like that. If her irritability to being touched there continues, I suggest you take her to a vet. A check up isn't too expensive. You can even call around and ask how much a check up for a guinea pig is. Guinea pigs have some what fragile bodies. A little push that may not hurt to you could feel devastating to a guinea pig. I suggest you look up pictures of pregnant guinea pigs. I'm not sure if you have a short hair or a long hair. A short hair is EAZZZZZY to tell when she's pregnant. Longer haired ones can sometimes be difficult. I hope this helps you. Feel free to ask me any more questions if you have any :) I wish you and your guinea pig a lifetime of health, happiness, and love. Have a great day!:)
