Possible stroke/heart attack

Question
Hi I was wondering if you could help me, I got up this morning to find my guinea pig motionless and he usually scurries away when you come near him. He keeps falling to his left side and shuffles about to try and prop himself up and he doesn't seem to be eating or drinking much so we cannot tell if he has fallen in the night from his ramp in the cage and suffered a heart attack as a result or something has caused him to have a stroke. Also when we go to pick him up he makes a squeaking sound but other than that he is very quiet unlike normal. I was wondering if you could tell me what we could do to make him more comfortable for the time being as we have rang the vet and he said to leave him alone for a bit with minimal disruption and that he should be fine until the morning if we want to take him to the vet if no improvement. We just don't want to leave him in pain so if there is something we can do then please let us know.

Answer
Hi Vanessa

I would partly agree with the vet. Keep him in a warm quiet place but if he has any other guinea pigs as friends in the same cage I see no point in removing him as further disruption to his normal environment is likely to cause more stress.

A vet's attention as a matter of urgency is required.
