I need to know

My older piggy is still living and unfortunately his pal is not with him.Can my piggy remember that he had a playmate?They have been together for almost 2 years,from when they were 6weeks old.I feel bad everytime I sit and play with him.He doesn't act the same to me,do you think he miss his friend,do he have a memory bank.(can he remember).Will he pass if he doesn't get another playmate or will toys help him to be fine

guinea pigs are naturally found in groups and the majority of them do better with another guinea pig. when they are by themselves they will act different towards you and their behavior will change. He probably does remember his playmate and toys will help him out, but a new friend will help him out even more.
