Question
I recentlly have been caring for an orphaned pig. She is five days old today and is active, and eating some solids and plently of milk. She shows no signs of illness except that for the last two days, I have not seen any signs of fecal in her cage. I have played with her after her feedings and still continue to stimulate bowel movements with a warm washcoth- but no poop. I have also tried feeding her applesauce as I know this is a natual laxative for many small animals. Could she be sick? What can I do, I don't want to loose her.

Answer
Hi Lindsay

She is eating well so thats a good sign. It seems very unlikely that she is constipated as she is so young.

For constipation in adult pigs I usually suggest 0.5ml of liquid parafin but you would need a much small dose for a baby, say 0.25ml.

You best option though is to get her examined by a vet who can do a thorough examination.
