Pregnant Guinea Pig might be injured!!!!

21 14:08:04

Question
I separated my two guinea pigs- the female has about 2 weeks left of her pregnancy. I placed the female on the top part of the cage but there was a 1 to 2 inch gap that she managed to squeeze through. I am afraid that because she is so far along she might have injured herself and the babies. I have felt them slightly moving before the incident, what can I look for now? Also, she is very active and has two bulges on the side (prospective pups) but only one bulge is kicking. Can there be a stillborn due to her moving and jumping around alot?

Answer
Hi Amanda

Stillborn babies are quite common anyway, sadly. I do doubt that the fall between levels would have done serious harm to her or the babies unless she landed on her side.

The only way to be 100% sure is to consult a vet who can check for a heartbeat.

Good luck

Andy
