Broken leg??

I think my g pigs leg got broken. I heard a snap when I put it down and now is walking with the back leg held up. do I need to take it to a vet? do they put a splint on it?

First, let me apologise for the delay in response.  AllExperts was having some sort of technical problem and I was unable to send any responses.  I am sorry it took me so long to answer you.

If your guinea pig's leg is broken, or you think it may be, I would take it to the vet.  If it is not bad, they will splint it and allow it to heal.  If it is a bad break, they will (most likely) recommend that you have the leg amputated or the animal put down.  There are, of course, other options, depending on how much you are willing to spend on your guinea pig.
