Piggy Foot Tumor

Question
My guinea pig developed a growth on the top of his foot that continued to grow in size until it was about the width of a dime.  For quite some time, he left it alone and it didn't appear to bother him.  Now he has begun chewing on it and has basically chewed the growth off and has an open wound about the size of a dime that he continues to chew on.  I have been treating it with antibiotic ointment several times daily but he continues to chew.  Is there any first aid I can administer to cut down the chewing and allow the wound to heal?  Thank you VERY much!

Answer
Hi Brittany,

I am very sorry for the delay in this answer; however, my advice to you is to consult a veterinarian immediately.  Your piggy's wound sounds serious, and anything I could prescribe should be heard by a veterinarian first.

I have read that after treatment from a vet it is possible to wrap Vetwrap around his foot.  More information can be found here (the site specifically goes into detail about foot treatment):

Thank you for your question, I hope I have been of some help to you.  If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to ask.  Good luck with your guinea pig (=
