Uh Oh Lice?

I just noticed that one of my piggies has little white things on his head.  I noticed there is like a little peach colored or fleshy colored small insect crawling around on his head.  I have seen a few of them on him now.  Is this lice?  If so, do you recommend Advantage to get rid of it?  Should I give the other piggies Advantage too even though they are far away from the pig that has it?  Can humans or dogs get it from guinea pigs?  How did he get it?  No other pig in my household has any signs of it.

This is probably a lice infection, as you have guessed.  I would immediately isolate this animal completely and begin treatment.  You can treat with advantage, just be careful that you treat by weight of the animal, as too much can be harmful.  You can find more information about dosage at:

Watch your other guinea pigs carefully for signs of an infestation, as lice as VERY contagious.
