Question
We just got two guinea pigs today, both females. They are from the same pet store however they were in two completely different cages. Cariey was in a cage with a rabbit and seemed to be doing well as far as getting along with it...and Nibbles was in a cage by herself...We asked the store clerks about them both and she said that she didn't think they would have a problem being together. We were also told that Cariey maybe pregnant....I guess my question is would being pregnant make Cariey more aggressive because she seems to be attacking Nibbles and we keep pulling them apart. I know they are trying to get used to their new home but I don't want them to fight. We have had to take them out separately so that Nibbles can eat and drink because ever time she goes for the food dish or water Cariey bites her. Someone please give me some advise I want to keep them both!!!

Answer
pigs always fight when first introduced, and a pregnant pig is often rattier, i recommend two food dishes and two water dishes. a little squabbling is perfectly normal and girls tend to get along more easily than men. i recommned placing them in a box together and driving them around in a car. having each other while being scared makes them ond better. while they are being driven around get someone to clean out their cage/hutch with a mild disinfectent. afterwards they might squabble a little but should get on all right. if this does not work then you will need to put a divider in the cage ideally wire mesh and keep swapping them over for a few weeks until they are so used to the smell of each other and the sight of each other that they will be fine.

any more trouble please do not hesitate to write back explianing how you got on.
