drinking bottles

Question
After a couple of months, my guinea pigs drinking bottles get
grimy and moldy inside - I suppose from the sun on the water
and vitamin c... the only way to get rid of the damaging black
mold is to bleach the bottle.  Will that be okay if I rinse the
bottle out thouroughly after bleaching?  It seems so wasteful and
can get so expensive buying new bottles every few months...
just wanted to make sure their little bodies could sustain a
bleach rinse before I reuse the bottles.

Answer
Yes, of course. A little bleach water is good, not only does it get rid of all the bacteria and viruses, but it does sanatize the water bottle. As long as you rinse it good and it doesn't have a bleach smell you should be fine. A lot of people use a cleaning brush also known as a filter brush to really clean the bottle. You can find this item in any fish area of your local petstore. I would really wash the bottle once a week with regular soap and water if you don't already do so, but using a small amount of bleach in your water to get it clean every now and then is fine.
