skittish

Question
after reading about everyone's fun with their piggie; i have a question.
Got a male about two weeks ago, he won't let anyone near it.  Took him out to clean his cage, he went crazy and won't come out of the igloo AT ALL. Is he allright; or has he been abused?

Hello Tom,
it's normal for guinea pigs to be very skittish with people. Generally I have to constantly hold guinea pigs everyday and give them special treats, just to become comfortable with me. A lot of times as well guinea pigs will remain shy and timid until a new friend is introduced to them. Most of the time guinea pigs do better with another friend.
