Question
When i go to pick my piggies out of their hutch or run they panic and run away make the angry purring sound, and when i finally go to catch them they desperatly try to get out of my hands. I have had them for 5 weeks, when i have them in my arms they are just fine, happy things? How can i stop this and make them want to come out?

Answer
Hi Ella

Apart from the most tame of guinea pigs all animals will initially run away when you go to pick them up. This is part of their natural defence mechanism as, in the wild, they are constantly needing to be aware of predators.

This behaviour is completely normal and there is nothing to worry about.
