Piggie death

Question
Hi. I bought a new pig from a pet store as a companion to my other 2 pigs. I had only had her 2 weeks when i returned from work one day to find she had produced a lot of diaoreah and had also bled quite a lot from her backside. She felt very cold, was hunched up with her eyes only half open. Unfortunately a few hours later she died. Do you have any idea what could have caused this? She was fine up until then, i fed her that morning and she seemed normal. The other 2 are OK and i know they wouldnt have attacked her and that she wasnt dropped. I also noticed she was drinking lots the day before.
Please help, I feel terrible and want to know if i could have done anything for her.

Answer
Hi Joanne-
It certainly sounds like a miscarriage to me.  I bet money she was housed with boys and girls at the pet store.  To me it sounds like she got pregnant and was too little to sustain the pregnancy.  It is very likely that the delivery just took everything she had and caused her untimely death.  The pet store needs to separate their animals for one and reimburse whatever you spent because it is in no way your fault.
Sorry, I hate when pet stores don't take good care of their animals to separate the sexes of the younger ones.
Sorry you lost your sow.
