Guinea Pig Loose Tooth

Question
My Guinea pig has a loose tooth that's being pushed out of the way by another tooth coming through. It's really loose making it hard for him to bite down on anything. It's not causing any sores around his mouth and lips yet, but I'm short on money for the vet, and it needs to come out.

Answer
Hi Dishan,

I am terribly sorry for the delay with this response.
Teeth issues can be very problematic for guinea pigs because the discomfort caused will most likely lead to lethargy and a loss of appetite, after which it is sometimes very hard to recover from.  When many guinea pigs stop eating, they lose the will to live and they die.  If the tooth needs to come out then it needs to come out; however, if it seems to be causing any type of discomfort or pain, a veterinarian who is experienced in the area of guinea pigs must be consulted.

Thank you for your question, I hope I have been of some help to you.  If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to ask.  Good luck with your guinea pig (=
