Sick and Cranky?

Question
Hello Nicole
I am worried about my two guinea pigs, two sows: Kiki, the more active one; and Lola, who is a bit of a chicken, and took longer to aclimate when we got them 5 months ago.
Kiki got sick about one week ago, and we took her to the vet, who felt that she had either a URI, or sore teeth, or both, and gave us Baytril (an antibiotic) to give Kiki.  On the day she went to the vet, she was listless, and had a fever, and had been a bit more sluggish than usual the two days prior.  AFter starting the antibiotics, she got better, but for about two days, I kept her on the couch, with access to a warming pad if she wanted it, and kept after her with seductive goodies. She really is almost back to normal in attitude now, and I think gaining weight again.  Success, right?
Problem is, that for the last two days, I have noticed her being very mean to Lola. She will ram Lola in the side, or mock bite her in the face. Lola makes just about the saddest "whheek" you ever heard.  I thought maybe it was because we were not paying total attention to Kiki, and she did not like Lola near her "territory" after her several days of special treatment.  I figured that they would just need to work out their dominance structure again.  However, last night I woke up several times with Lola's little "whheek" and I noticed Kiki standing in front of Lola's house (blocking the exit) all hunched up with her hackles up while Lola was wheeking this morning during breakfast.
I have decided to get a bigger cage (currently a little less than 1 meter x 1 meter), cut an excape hatch in the back of the two wooden houses we have, and let nature resolve this, but I am still worried about Lola.  Is this just Kiki being a jerk after loosing some of her matzi? Are we inadvertently setting up territorial disputes by favoring one or the other?  Should I separate the two little bums (my girlfriend favors this, but I am worried that we may be screwing up their lives with good intentions in the long run)?
All of this has made us wonder if we should get a third piggy to allow a more balanced community...of course that could be just making things more complicated.
There has been no blood drawn, Lola still is eating, pooping and peeing.
I appreciate any suggestions you could offer.
Warm Regards, and Thanks in advance...

Answer
Hello Jack!
Give Kiki and Lola a hug for me, they sound so cute!
I say, let this be. hey will probably get over this. Try some supervised playtime by removing all the houses and wtching them run together, or doing something near by and checking on them. They might benefit from some girl time.
If there fighting gets serious then separate them. If not, girls will be girls.
Hope this helps!
