My pig died...

My guinea pig was pregnant and I thought she was about to deliver. I left her alone for a few hours to give her some space. When i returned she was lying there not breathing. Do you think she was sick already? Or could that have happened due to complications at birth?

Hello Kori, thanks for the question. I am sorry for the late answer,

First off, I am very sorry for your loss. I know how it hurts to lose a pet and a friend.

Young and old GPs are known to have problems in delivering a litter. Older GPs usually cannot go to term and die or mis-carry along the term. Younger GPs sometimes cannot deliver.

She probably had problems with the delivery and there would've been very little you could have done to help her.
