Question
These are the questions I have about GP care:
(1) I'm very responsible, and a great caretaker.  But I work long hours.  If I'm home by ten pm, and can spend about two hours per day on weekdays + more time on weekends with the GPs, is this going to be enough stimulation for them?  btw, I plan to buy 2 females so that they don't get too lonely.
and
(2) I want a longhair GP, but am concerned about the maintenance.  If I keep a longhair's hair fairly short, is that sufficient upkeep (ie, will I still have to brush its hair everyday?)

Answer
Yes, as long as they have a large enough enclosure so they can exercise on their own time. Please look over www.guinealynx.info and www.guineapigcages.com Most pet store cages are too small. You can build your own large enclosure for cheap. Just see the later website.

Please adopt a pair of homeless guinea pigs from a local animal shelter or guinea pig rescue, or your local classifieds. There are usually people who don't want theirs anymore. www.petfinder.com www.cavyrescue.com http://www.guinealynx.info/rescues.html

I have long hair pigs and it usually isn't a big deal to groom them if you keep their hair trim. Just make sure to do butt trims to keep them cleaner or they may get UTI easier.
