I have 2 young male guinea pigs, and an old female guinea pig lives in the house also.
I had the 2 males outside separated. They were purring at first then I unseparated them and they started chattering, then fighting. Why do they seem to get along then fight even when not in each other's cage? It was neutral territory.
AnswerBecause they are adolescents and you keep putting them together then separating them. They need to be introduced once, and able to work out their dominance issues. If they are both 'teenagers' they are not as likely to get along.

I recommend moving them indoors as well.
