Question
Hi there! I am house sitting for my sister and they have a 6 month old guinea pig. My sister warned me that they suspect that the guinea pig may be pregnant. (apparently the kids took her to play with the niehbors pig) I'm not sure if she actually is, but she is HUGE. I'm concerned about what to do if she gives birth while I'm there. I've heard that they eat their young. Any advice you have would be great. Thanks!

Answer
Guinea Pigs DO NOT eat their young. If she has babies whole you are there you do not need to do anything special. Just make sure she has unlimited Alfalfa Hay, and at least 2 cups of fresh vegetables. They are pregnant for 10 weeks, in the 7th week you should be able to feel them moving.
